The key comparison may be counting precision and effort, supplier purchasing, or both. A bottle-level count and a supplier purchase use different units and happen at different times. Evaluate the connection without assuming that one tool replaces a specialized counting routine.
Count a partial bottle, then receive a different pack
Use an illustrative bar item purchased in cases of six one-litre bottles. The shelf contains four sealed bottles and two partially used bottles. Ask the staff to perform the actual count, including the container and spout settings needed by the method. Do not assume the gross weight equals liquid remaining.
Now order two cases and let the supplier offer 700 ml bottles instead. Twelve bottles at 700 ml contain 8.4 litres, compared with 12 litres in the original order. The buyer should review the pack, volume, price and recipe implications before accepting the substitution.
Receive the approved delivery and check the purchase-unit-to-count-unit conversion. Then compare actual usage with recipe-linked sales using the same units. Record count time, corrections and unresolved differences with ordinary bar staff. This is more useful evidence than a claimed universal percentage reduction in shrink.
