Cannabis purchasing crosses three records: the commercial order, the physical inventory and the required state reporting. A good operating process connects them without assuming that a purchase order or a software integration replaces a licensee's reporting obligations.
For a multi-state team, maintain a facility-by-facility reporting map. The platform name alone is not enough: license type, enabled functions, effective rules, permissions and integration approval can differ within the same vendor's markets.
Start with the regulator's current instructions
State systems change. Illinois identifies Metrc as its official cannabis inventory tracking system from July 1, 2025, following its BioTrack transition. Washington describes CCRS as an in-house reporting platform that replaced Leaf Data Systems. Those are different operating environments, not interchangeable Metrc configurations. Use the regulator's current resources to confirm the system for each facility. Do not infer an active state mandate from a private software provider's name, an old market-share chart or a historical integration list.
