An easy Shopify purchasing workflow lets a buyer answer four questions: what needs stock, which supplier should receive the order, what the supplier confirmed, and what actually arrived. The number of applications matters less than whether the team can follow those answers without rebuilding the record in a spreadsheet.
LineNow’s Shopify purchase order software connects replenishment decisions, supplier-ready orders, reviewable supplier changes and receiving. This guide gives you a practical evaluation exercise for a stocked ecommerce business. For a comparison of vendors, use the Shopify procurement software buying guide.
Start with the supplier order you repeat
Choose a supplier you buy from regularly and a few representative products. Include an item bought in cases but sold individually, a bestseller and an item with stock already on order. This reveals more about day-to-day usability than importing the whole catalog and admiring a dashboard.
Write down the information your buyer needs:
- Sellable variant and supplier SKU
- Purchase pack, minimum order and price basis
- Stock on hand at the receiving location
- Open purchases and expected deliveries
- Lead time and replenishment settings
- Supplier contact and agreed ordering channel
Shopify already has native purchasing and receiving tools. Follow the native PO tutorial if that is enough for the current workflow. An additional application should earn its place by making a recurring buying problem easier to handle.
