Stocky stopped operating on August 31, 2026. If purchasing still depends on it, start by protecting your records and choosing where the next supplier order will live. Shopify provides read-only export access for at least 90 days after the shutdown; historical purchase orders do not automatically migrate, and supplier records cannot be exported from Stocky. Check Shopify’s migration guidance for the current access rules.

This guide separates preserving history from setting up a replacement. LineNow’s Shopify purchase order software is one option for stocked ecommerce teams that need supplier conversations, changed confirmations and receiving to stay attached to the purchase.

Choose the replacement around the work

Start with the workflow your team actually performs. An inventory screen, a purchase order and a supplier conversation are connected tasks, but different products handle their boundaries differently.

For a wider shortlist, use the Shopify procurement software comparison. Choose on demonstrated fit rather than a promise of an identical Stocky replacement.

Preserve what you need before rebuilding

Keep exported historical documents separate from operational opening balances. An old PO is evidence of a past transaction; importing its quantity as an open order could create a new purchasing or receiving obligation by mistake.

Make a migration worksheet with these columns:

  • Original PO reference and supplier
  • Ordered quantity, already received quantity and quantity still expected
  • Product variant, supplier SKU, purchase pack and destination
  • Latest supplier-confirmed price and delivery date
  • Invoice or credit still unresolved
  • Where the historical document is stored
  • New system reference and person responsible for checking it

Use the records you can export, retained supplier emails and accounting documents to reconcile gaps. Do not assume the replacement can import historical states, attachments or supplier relationships just because it can import a product list.

Decide who records the next receipt

Choose one receiving process for each delivery. During transition, a warehouse employee might receive in Shopify while a buyer records the same boxes in another application. If both paths increase the same stock balance, the store can appear to have twice what arrived.

Before a pilot, agree:

  1. Where new supplier POs are created and sent.
  2. Who checks supplier confirmations and updates changed quantities or prices.
  3. Where physical receiving is recorded.
  4. Which supported integration updates the Shopify item and location.
  5. Where the supplier bill is reviewed and created.

Shopify’s native workflow is a valid starting point. Follow the native purchase-order tutorial before adding another application solely to reproduce those steps.

Run one complete order through LineNow

For a stocked Shopify business evaluating LineNow, start with one supplier and a manageable set of items. Confirm the Shopify connection, supplier mapping, purchase units, receiving location and email setup. Configure replenishment settings before relying on suggested quantities. Accounting handoff can be tested separately once the purchase and receipt are understood.

Use a small, explicit scenario. This example is illustrative:

EventRecord to check
Buyer orders six cases of four bottles24 sellable bottles; price basis is clear
Supplier confirms four cases now, two laterConfirmed shipment plan and eight bottles still expected
Price changes from $18 to $19 per bottleBuyer reviews the change and its source message
Warehouse receives four cases16 bottles recorded at the intended destination
First invoice arrivesInvoice quantities and costs checked against confirmed and received quantities

The test is whether each person can explain the current order without reconstructing an email thread. See the Shopify purchasing walkthrough and the Whitmans customer story for the supplier-coordination use case.

Cut over with an opening-position check

Record the cutover date, stock on hand and outstanding supplier quantities by location. Reconcile the first receipt and invoice before expanding to more suppliers. Keep a named owner for unresolved historical POs so old balances do not disappear between systems.

Setup time depends on item quality, supplier records, open purchases and accounting requirements. A one-supplier pilot is a useful scope; it is not a guarantee that a complete migration takes a week. Reassess your Shopify subscription separately against the POS features you still use.
