Shopify and QuickBooks Online both support purchasing tasks. The implementation question is which system owns each step, how records connect and where the team handles supplier changes.
Shopify documents supplier purchase orders and receiving through linked inventory transfers. QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced, in the US documentation, support creating and emailing POs and linking them to bills or expenses, including partial quantities. An additional procurement system should address a demonstrated workflow need rather than duplicate those capabilities.
Shopify's PO guide, QuickBooks PO creation and QuickBooks PO-to-bill linking provide the native baseline. Confirm the plans and regional editions in your own stack.
Assign ownership before adding a connector
Use a worksheet with a single operational owner for each record. The following is a design exercise, not a promise that every connector supports every field.
| Record or decision | Owner to name | Proof required |
|---|---|---|
| Sellable product and location | Commerce/catalog owner |
